Hey everyone, I know I’m a few days late on my link love post but I had a birthday that fell on Sunday as well and I had to write about the half price theme sale instead.

In any case here are the posts last week that really got me thinking:

Let’s start things off with a great post from Scott over at Self Made Minds about a mini site case study update. This is a one year follow up post about a site he purchased that requires absolutely no upkeep. He’s making $20 a day off a site he doesn’t even have to touch anymore! As you may have read before I’m working on some mini sites of my own, but I don’t have a $600 a month target like that site is bringing in… yet.

Brian from Breaking Free (he seems to be a regular attendee on my link love posts these days) wrote about how to make your business more passive. He uses an example from his tutoring site, yet the principles still apply. It’s important to automate menial tasks like looking for spam - I just wish I had the coding skills to implement more of these ideas into my own websites ;)

Elijah from the At Home Couple writes about Blogging Naked. Now part of me thinks he was just using this post as link bait (hey worked on me) but I just had to post this. Has anyone tried blogging naked? I certainly haven’t and if I do I’m not sure if I’ll post pictures about it hah hah. This guy’s writing is hilarious in most of his posts though so be sure to check out his blog.

Alan from Affiliate Confession wrote a great post that claims Making Money on the Internet is a Big Fat Scam. Don’t let the post title fool you as this is primarily just focused on letting people know that you can’t get anywhere online if you don’t put in some work and I certainly agree. Part of why I love to write about case studies is because of the fact that I believe it can truly help people learn if something is best for them. That’s what I’m trying to do with my $100 monthly mini site case study series and my ongoing site flipping case study.

While on the topic of scams I have to also link to another similiar post written last week that matches up well with what Alan has said. Seth Godin talks about things that are too good to be true.

Lastly Jim Karter writes about staying focused and not getting bored. This is great advice to me, because I am constantly reminded of projects I planned to start and didn’t because I lost focus. While I currently can’t just take a vacation when I get bored of diversifying my work I can at the very least make my web work a larger priority in my life by cutting out other tasks that take up too much of my time.

Alright, that’s it for me and if you have a great blog post that you’d like me to mention in my Sunday Link Love series than please contact me. If I believe it will benefit my readers I’ll post it. Also a brief update on the site flipping case study - I have listed the site for auction. I only posted it for 10 days as I want to try and wrap up the case study by the end of the month. Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed to read future updates about my progress.

Sunday Link Love v13

This link love session will be a short one. I spent most of this weekend upgrading one of my forums - Xbox Live Arcade to be exact - to the latest version of vBulletin. Wow I had forgotten how much of a pain that was perhaps I’ll write a longer post going into the details but in any case, suffice it to say I didn’t have a lot of time to spend scouring the net for new blogs to link to so I went back to some of my oldies but goodies. Alright onto the articles:

I want to start this off with a post from someone you no doubt have heard of - Shoemoney. He had originally sent this off in his newsletter but decided to post it again on his blog. This is a post about how much money you can make with local affiliate marketing. I think the best part about it is that there is a ton of opportunity out there as I doubt many people are doing this and besides - let’s face it there are plenty of businesses that could stand to benefit from this.

Another great one from Al over at SelfMadeMinds. He wrote about leaving the comfort zone. I bet it would be certainly hard to leave a six figure job to focus on the web full time. Either way, I’m steadily working towards that as well (the leaving the job for the web full time - not the six figure job :D)

Lastly (hey I said this was a short one) SuiteJ makes a return by giving 5 reasons why flipping new sites is better than keeping them. I’ve heard so much about site flipping over the past few months that I’ve decided to give it a go as well. First I want to write about site flipping from the perspective of someone that hasn’t done it (calling upon what others have written about from time to time). Then I’m going to build a site and flip it and write a follow up post. Hopefully this will help some of you that are on the fence about the idea figure out if it’s worth the effort. Either way it’s sure to be a lot of fun so make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed to see how it turns out.

Ok that’s it for me and if you have a great blog post that you’d like me to mention in my Sunday Link Love series than please contact me. If I believe it will benefit my readers I’ll post it.

Sunday Link Love v12

This marks the third month I’ve been doing these weekly link love sessions every Sunday. I haven’t missed a Sunday since I started and I want to keep these up for a long time. If you aren’t scratching the backs of other bloggers by linking to their posts I highly suggest you try it out. With that said let’s move onto the first post:

Tyler Cruz is a name you have probably heard before but some of you may have not known about his video game addiction. I agree with Tyler that the biggest struggle and time drain that gets in the way of my web work is video games. The way I avoid spending too much time playing video games is by simply playing games that have an end. Good examples of recent games I’ve played - Fable II and Fallout 3. After I’m done playing beating these games I sell them on eBay and wait until the next release. While I do play Halo 3 from time to time I primarily do that only when I’m paid for Halo Lessons.

John Chow broke the news about BlogRush closing down. For those of you that have been long time readers you may remember when I offered free advertising on my blog to replace the BlogRush widget. I did this because I knew the traffic this widget was terrible and not worth it. You can read more about why it closed down on the link above, but no one will be too sad about this “loss.”

Jonathan Volk wrote about a very interesting post about a plugin for the new Google phone that scans barcodes and searches for cheaper prices online. While I believe most people should know by now that if you buy something from a brick and mortar retail store you are going to be paying more for it than buying it online this is still a cool idea. Any takers to make one for the iPhone?

Joe wrote an interesting post on EADD - Entrepreneurial Attention Deficit Disorder. I definitely suffer from this “disorder” hah hah. I literally have at least 10 ideas I want to try right now and I keep bouncing back and forth between projects without sticking to one thing and finishing it out.

Ok that’s it for me and if you have a great blog post that you’d like me to mention in my Sunday Link Love series than please contact me. If I believe it will benefit my readers I’ll post it. Lastly, be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed. Tomorrow I will be posting my monthly earnings and have several posts this upcoming week that you won’t want to miss out on.

Wow only one more week to hit the 3 month mark. In any case I haven’t missed a Sunday since I started and I want to keep this up for a long time. I don’t have any plans to discontinue these posts and in fact I finally had someone email me with a post they wanted me to mention in my link love series. If you remember last week I was frustrated that no one had sent their good blog posts over asking for a link back so I promised that the very first person to email me a link to a post on their blog would get a link back. So let’s start off with that one first :)

Thanks for emailing me Kelly you were the first (sorry to the others that emailed me later). Kelly posed the question Too Many Blogs? and I think the first question says it all, “How many blogs is it feasible for one person to maintain?” I think that question is very difficult to answer because it can vary from person to person. I know I will be launching one more blog that will require at least 3 posts a day so that will certainly cap me out. What do you think?

The next post I had to link to was from a big name blogger. Long time readers of this blog will know I rarely do this but perhaps because I recently reviewed his book his blog has been on my mind. Whatever the reason, the man I’m referring to is Steve Pavlina of course who just removed Adsense from his blog which was generating $100k per year! I don’t know about you but It would be hard for me to say goodbye to that income but I can certainly see why he did this based on the reasons he outlined in the post.

Here is a link out to a new blogger I just found a little while ago. Freddie Taylor is going to start doing internet marketing experiments. I congratulate you Freddie! Being a big fan of case studies and tracking results from my websites I’m looking forward to seeing how you do. Is it just me, or don’t you all love to read case study posts?

Next we have a post about website flipping strategies to improve your sales from SuiteJ. I know I’ve linked to him before recently, but I also want you guys and gals to check out the updated version of his blog. The Halloween theme you set up is great hah hah. I’ve thought about flipping websites a few times now and I’ll be addressing the topic in a future blog post.

Well, that’s it for me. I’m barely getting this post in before Sunday comes to a close because I was really busy this weekend - which I’ll also discuss in another post this week. In any case, my offer still stands. If you have a great blog post that you’d like me to mention in my Sunday Link Love series than please contact me. If I believe it will benefit my readers I’ll post it. Lastly, be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed. I will have several posts this upcoming week that you won’t want to miss out on.

Sunday Link Love v10

Here it is first thing Sunday morning at 8:00 AM! I told you I’d eventually get these Sunday Link Love posts up before 10:00 PM late Sunday night hah hah!

Here are the posts I liked this week:

Let’s start things off with a post from wake up later which states Falling Behind is Not an Option. This post title is a little ironic considering he hasn’t posted in almost six months but he gives a lot of good ideas about how important is to stay up on the times.

Ben over at Frogstr wrote an interesting although diabolical post on how to fake your feedburner subscription count the smart way! lol, I must admit that I’ve never heard of this method before but it certainly seems very easy. However, people will notice when you have 500 RSS subscribers and no one seems to comment on your blog. Use at your own risk (I’d just suggest you don’t).

Ashley over at Upstart Blogger offered up her opinion on the posting frequency debate by telling us that post frequency may not be as important as you think. I think that she has a point, especially if your past posts have been so good that many people won’t unsubscribe just because they haven’t seen a post in a few days. I commented on the post but should also add that it really depends on your blog type. It’s pretty hard to be a breaking news blog if you only post once every other day right?

Steven over at Traffikd has made my link love post series before so while I’d prefer not to use him again for a while longer this post is too great. If you use Firefox make sure you check out his post on Firefox Add-Ons for Bloggers. This is a great resource so check it out.

Now to wrap things up, Elijah aka the athomecouple wrote a nifty post on how to save some time by combining all of the social bookmarking tools. Check out his post to see what I’m talking about.

As always, If you have a post that you would like to see featured on next week’s link love edition than please contact me. If it’s good I’ll mention it. :) Scratch that - no one has even emailed me yet! The first person that emails me with a post they want me to link to in the next week’s session will be in next weeks link love even if your post sucks. Now be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed this week as I continue to chronicle my journey as an internet marketer while balancing the stresses of a full time job and multiple websites.

Sunday Link Love v9

Ok, so I didn’t post my Sunday Link Love v9 as early as I’d like to because I wanted to give some more time for my post about the World’s Largest Digg Button to get a few more Digg’s. It got about 9 in less than a couple days which was a decent result; however, I know it would have been more popular on Digg if I had a larger reader base to help promote the post by Digging it.

In any case, here are the posts I liked for the week:

Let’s start things off with a link to a bigger blogger. While long time readers will already know I rarely link to big time bloggers because they already get promoted enough. However, this tip is incredibly valuable and I intend to use it when I start to do video on my blog. It’s a tutorial on how to make your online video’s clickable (for affiliate offers etc.)

The next post comes from a person that was looking to advertise on my entrecard ad slot. I checked out his blog and this post stuck out to me. It’s nice to see he was able to get his content onto some larger websites. Read more about how he did it here.

The next link comes from Shane who came up with a list of 23 of his favorite wordpress themes. This list helped me snag a theme I’m going to use for a future project so I wanted to share it with the rest of you in case you find it helpful.

Jay wrote an interesting article on outsourcing webflipping tasks like the article writing. It was an interesting read and I’d be even more interested to see if anyone else has tried this out with success. Feel free to share below.

Lastly here’s a post from a few weeks ago from a blog I just discovered. It’s 7 effective ways to increase your technorati authority. This shares a few of the ideas I discussed in my 10 ways to improve your technorati rank that new readers of my blog may want to check out.

That’s it for the week. Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed this week as I continue to chronicle my journey as an internet marketer while outlining the ideas I’ve found to be successful. If you have a post that you would like to see featured on next week’s link love edition than please contact me. If it’s good I’ll mention it. :)

Sunday Link Love v8

Category: Weekly Wrap Ups

Sunday link love on a Monday you may ask? Well I had the post pretty much written but didn’t publish on Sunday because I knew I had to come in to work really early so I wanted to finish it up then. Anyway, I think what I’m going to do is publish my next link love post at about 10:00 AM on Sunday.

Ok let’s look at some of the posts I liked during the week:

The first one comes from a relative regular for the link love sessions - Brian wrote about how to generate leads to your new website and the thing I liked the most about this post is that he centered it around an actual website example. On this blog here I strive to post with examples as frequently as possible because general advice isn’t enough sometimes, so I’m glad to see Brian adheres to that philosophy in most of his posts as well.

The next link comes as a bit of a downer. The owner of the affiliate post has given up and decided to give away his blog after it only fetched $200 in a Sitepoint auction. He hasn’t announced a winner yet although it will be announced. So if you don’t have a blog go write a comment on his post as to why you should win it and you may have a chance to still get it. The post touches on several issues that highlight how difficult it is to maintain a blog and why many times it isn’t worth it. I personally really enjoy blogging and while I only made $205 last month I know that figure will continue to grow as long as I continue to write about topics that matter.

Our next post comes from a blogger I’ve been following for a while. Steven has a knack for writing posts that beg to be submitted to various social media sites such as digg and stumble upon. He put together a list of the ten icon sets for social media sites. So if you’re looking for a more unique look to your social media icons be sure to check out his post.

The next post comes from Paul the inspired money maker who wrote a guest post on Tyler Cruz’s blog which contains a lot of tips on beginner affiliate marketing strategies.

Finally, if you haven’t heard by now (and I’d be really surprised if you haven’t) the one man blog Bankaholic.com was sold for $15 million dollars on what many people are saying a relatively low level of traffic. However, Shane does a great job of piecing together elements from other bloggers that show why Bankaholic sold for $15 million.

Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed this week as I continue to chronicle my journey as an internet marketer while outlining the ideas I’ve found to be successful. If you have a post that you would like to see featured on next week’s link love edition than please contact me. If it’s good I’ll mention it. :)

Sunday Link Love v6

Category: Weekly Wrap Ups
2 Comments

Today is the sixth session of my Sunday Link Love and it will be a short one. It’s a little shorter because it was another big wedding weekend where one of my old college roommates got married but finally it was the last one of the summer (this makes 4 for me!).

AskShane kicks this session off with a post about How to Rank Well in Yahoo. I like this conspiracy theory idea (and I use that term loosely) that Yahoo rankings are often times pre determined by paid search. I think it’s certainly possible. What do you think?

Another post comes from SuiteJ who writes about how to use Google Analytics to find hidden gems in keywords. This post reminded me to write a post about How to Improve your Website in the Eyes of Google. So if you haven’t read that one yet be sure to check it out.

This next post comes from Mr Javo who created a list of RSS directories and feed channels. I haven’t tried this yet, but it looks like another nice method for getting more people to read your content.

Lastly, Steven posed the question “Is self submission really that bad?” He is of course referring to submitting your own content to social networks. What do you think? I was the first to comment on his post so if you care to see my opinion or join in on the discussion head on over to the post.

Alright, going forward for this week I have a few really interesting posts lined up. I’m most excited about the post I’ve written about Stumble Upon, so if you haven’t subscribed to my RSS feed please do so now. I will be publishing the post sometime this week.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!
